There are certain advantages and disadvantages when your spouse works in the health and fitness industry.
Advantages:
-Free memberships to health clubs/facilities (as a spouse)
-Free workout sessions
-Inside tips on how to eat and live healthy
Disadvantages:
-Can’t skip workout sessions
-Watches the number of ‘water breaks’ that you take
-Comes over to where you are and says ‘you’re not giving it your all – give me 5 more’
After a brief hiatus, I recently started working out again. The last few weeks were going good - Marc frequently asked me,
“How’s it going? Feeling any pain, yet?”
I usually responded, “No, not yet.”
That is, until last Thursday. I woke up with pain in my lower legs – pain like the pain I occasionally felt when I ran track in High School. The pain was from our cardio session -- shuttle runs, or what seemed like an advanced version of shuttle runs.
Aging is a funny thing – in your mind you feel like you can still do the things that you did when you were young, but your body responds, ‘And. . . NO. . .’ Marc and I both ran track in high school -- in my mind I start to think - even though it has been awhile, I'm still an athlete - I can do this. LOL. . .
Me, resting after a cardio session with the elliptical trainer.
